Established for over 25 years, the South Somerset Music Spectacular is one of the region’s best known educational performance events. Bringing together children from primary and secondary schools right across the area, the event now takes place over two evenings providing a fantastic opportunity for students to showcase their talents.
With the closure last year of Westlands Leisure Complex, many local events have been forced to find alternative venues. And as one of the leading Audio and Visual providers in the area, Revolution Audio has seen significant growth as we expand our network of customers. As local event organisers have found new venues, our team of Production Managers and Engineers have committed to work closely with clients to help bring their event ideas to life through Audio, Lighting and Video. Audio systems, based around a Nexo PS15 FOH System and Midas DL32 Digital Console catered for a wide range of performances, ranging from simple vocal trios right through to orchestras, and everything in between. While the majority of performances were captured by a comprehensive overhead micing solution, we also deployed a wide variety of specialist microphones on either side of the stage (where we also provided full Pipe and Drape), as well as handy patch sheets and stage directions for Somerset Music’s Stage Crew to follow. All of this meant changeover times were kept to a minimum, sound quality was predictable and controllable, and the right microphones were always in the right place, at the right time. We worked with the client to design a flexible yet high-value lighting system to supplement that already installed in the venue. Working with a mixture of moving and static fixtures – most using LED technology – we were able to create a wide range of effects to keep performances engaging whilst still keeping within budgets for the client. We also provided Live Video Relay to the venue’s large screen, enabling all parents to clearly see their children on stage. For full details of the Technical Solutions deployed for this event, please read our in-depth Case Study. The event was another shining example of Revolution Audio’s ability to bring together all the technical elements required to bring a successful, cohesive event together, as well as our commitment to working closely with all our clients to meet and exceed their expectations. This year’s Music Spectacular has been described as a “roaring success”, and we look forward to working closely with the team for years to come. Revolution Audio has been the Production Partner for the Women of God Conference since 2013, and with the event continuing to grow in both scale and popularity, the event organisers have been focussed on continuously improving the Audio and Visual aspects of their event. And with Revolution Audio’s experienced and dedicated team on board, this was developed even further for the 2016 event. Based on the theme of “Shine”, we provided – for the first time at this event – Lighting and Video services in addition to Audio. With the event held at The GateWay venue in Yeovil, Somerset, we continued to utilise the existing speaker installation of Nexo PS15s with LS1200 sub-bass units, but this time also deployed a Midas M32 Digital Console from our own extensive inventory. Utilised in conjunction with a DL32 I/O Box and P16 Personal Monitoring System for the worship band, we ensured a tremendous level of sound quality, as well as minimising stage levels and providing touring worship leader Joe Hardy and his band with an ideal In Ear Monitoring solution. On the lighting side, we also provided additions to the venue’s in-house rig of generic fixtures, with the aim to provide a system that visually represented the conference theme of “Shine”, but also representing a very high value-for-money proposition. For Showtec Spectral M800 Tour LED Fixtures were deployed on stage, along with a set of Active Sunstrip Effect Units, firing through effectively-used haze created by a Unique 2.1 Unit. Existing generic fixtures in The GateWay were supplemented by a pair of ETC Source 4 Junior units for precisely lighting the two band vocalists. Control was achieved using a Chamsys MagicQ PC System. Finally we also provided full multi-camera recording of the teaching sessions in full 1080P HD, including full post-production as well as distribution. The full range of services provided for the event was a shining example of Revolution Audio’s success in the Worship Events sector, with our dedicated team committed to working closely with the event organisers to capture the heart behind any event.
