Every year, students from the "Sherborne Cluster" - a partnership of primary schools from villages surrounding the Dorset town - take to the stage in Yeovil in a showcase of music and singing. And for the last few years, Revolution Audio has been on hand to provide top quality audio production, and a memorable evening to all involved.
Held at The GateWay in Yeovil - where our quality of work has seen us appointed as the exclusive supplier of audio and visual services - we utilised the best of the in-house system, as well as providing more specialised components to bring the highest levels of production the event has ever seen. We used the in-house PA system, consisting of flown Nexo PS15s and ground-stacked Nexo LS1200 Subwoofers, alongside the installed Behringer X32 digital console. The flexibility in the X32 routing options - Particularly in the assignment of EQs (of both the Parametric and Graphic variety) proved invaluable for this event. Micing up groups of children - many of whom have never performed on stage before - can often be difficult, but our team rose to the challenge with a top-class selection of overhead microphones. On the outer edges of the stage, AKG 414s were deployed, while in the centre, a more discrete "crossed pair" of Audix ADX-51s were used. Vocal groups were also present off to the sides of the main stage; the larger of which was captured by a "crossed pair" of SE Electronics SE1-As, while an Audiotechnica Pro 37R captured the smaller of the groups. All microphones benefited from a substantial "ringing out" using the processing available on the X32 console, which allowed a higher level than ever previously achieved, while maintaining outstanding clarity and quality. One song also featured a solo vocal part, and when our team suggested the possibility of capturing this with a discrete earset microphone, school staff were hugely excited about what could be achieved. We deployed a truly top-class DPA 4066 with Sennhesier EW300 G3 Wireless system, and the results spoke for themselves with a tremendously natural, yet warm and full sound. Indeed, many parents afterwards approached our team to ask how the sound was even achieved, so discrete was the system. One even thought that a backing track was being played, and was amazing to hear such a quality sound was being captured live! We also provided lighting design and control for the event using Chamsys MagicQ software, following a full renewal of all lighting gels at the venue. Our team received numerous compliments from both staff and parents for the professionalism and efficiency we demonstrated throughout the rehearsals and performance, and we are proud to have been part of creating such a memorable evening for all involved. Whatever the size or type of event, Revolution Audio offers top-quality production services to clients large and small. Beyond this, we also provide equipment hire, live recordings and consultancy. It was my son who sang the solo, and yes, the sound quality was quite incredible. I have video of it and nobody ever believes that it wasn't a backing track.
